Administration Officer / Paralegal - Pool Recruitment

PSCA 2024, General Division Level 2, up to $82,463 gross per annum + super + benefits

This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency. 

About the role

In this role, you will assist lawyers working in the Magistrates Court or Children’s Court sitting at one or more of the following metropolitan locations: Perth, Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah, Midland, Joondalup or Armadale.

On some days you will be required to work from the Legal Aid WA office in the Perth CBD, while on others you may be able to travel directly to and from the courthouse and work from home after court has concluded.

You will have substantial contact with clients, providing legal information and referrals where appropriate, as well as undertaking a broad range of administrative duties, including but not limited to:

- Managing incoming calls and emails

- Scheduling appointments

- Completing Legal Aid application forms

- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

- Data entry and assisting with record keeping

- Providing administrative support to lawyers, including some paralegal tasks

About you

We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, who feel comfortable working with people over the telephone and in person. To be successful in the roles, you will have:

- Strong computer skills;

- Excellent communication skills;

- The ability to manage workloads and competing priorities;

- Experience working in a team with the ability to contribute positively to that team;

- A good working knowledge of court processes, Legal Aid services, and other community-based support and advice service.
