The Role

The HaSS department at Ashdale SC is a collaborative and high-performing team that values collegiality, reflective practice and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate HaSS Teachers who inspire curiosity about the world and fosters a strong understanding of the social, cultural, economic and environmental forces that shape our society.

Suitable applicants will ideally have experience delivering the Western Australian Curriculum and Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses. While the ability to teach a senior secondary Humanities and Social Sciences subject is highly regarded, experience or a willingness to teach Geography at the senior school level would be particularly desirable.

Ashdale SC’s Teaching and Learning Framework, LEARN and GROW, underpins the high-quality teaching and learning that occurs throughout the College. Suitable applicants will ideally show a commitment to reflective practice, use evidence-informed strategies to maximise student achievement, and create engaging and inclusive learning environments where all students are supported to achieve their personal best. They will ideally be capable of designing learning experiences that develop students’ critical thinking, inquiry, literacy and analytical skills while fostering a genuine interest in HaSS.

With highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, the desired applicants will ideally work collaboratively with students, colleagues, parents and the wider community to achieve positive educational outcomes. They will ideally contribute positively to the culture of the HaSS learning area and support the continued development of engaging and innovative teaching programs.

At Ashdale SC, there is a clear focus on high standards of student achievement and continuous improvement. Teaching staff play a key role in school planning processes through the analysis of student performance data, the development and implementation of improvement strategies, and the application of evidence-based practices to enhance student outcomes. Suitable applicants will ideally show a commitment to ongoing professional growth and a willingness to contribute to the broader life of the College.

The desired candidates will ideally be passionate about HaSS committed to fostering student success, and eager to contribute to a vibrant and supportive learning area that encourages both staff and students to thrive.
