What work will I be doing?
You won’t be driving a roller or fixing pot holes. This two-year traineeship will develop you in a Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering. You will grow your engineering skill set with hand-on experience across drafting, construction, materials engineering and structural design. On the job you will be part of a close knit team, providing technical support to various asset management planning activities for road programs, getting involved in assessing road condition, or learning about quality of construction techniques on small construction projects.
Along with some formal training, you’ll learn on-the-job, guided by your supervisor, plus there’s a network of support that will help you feel like a valued member of the community. To experience what our backyard has to offer, there is a wide range of social activities for you to explore.
How does a traineeship work?
As part of the traineeship you will:
- work full time with Main Roads while completing your two year traineeship
- attend classroom based training in Perth twice a year, with all our other trainees across the State.
- be supported every step of the way – our friendly trainee coordinator is dedicated to ensuring you are developing and learning at your best.
At the end of two years, you will complete your Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering and enjoy an ongoing career with long term development opportunities at Main Roads.
