The Office of the Government Architect supports the Government Architect in providing leadership and independent strategic advice to government to improve the design of public buildings and spaces and to enhance the quality of the built environment.
The Opportunity:
The OGA has two newly created positions:
- Principal Associate to the Government Architect (SCL6)
- Associate to the Government Architect (SCL5)
Both positions are permanent full-time appointments. Suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar (permanent, fixed term, full-time or part-time) vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months.
Role Descriptions:
Principal Associate to the Government Architect (SCL6)
To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in architectural practice.
- Experience providing strategic leadership in design review, policy and practice.
- Highly developed critical and analytical skills in relation to a diverse range of significant and complex projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to advocate for good design within the framework of government policies.
- Ability to negotiate effectively in difficult and demanding circumstances.
Associate to the Government Architect (SCL5)
To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Substantial experience in architectural practice.
- Experience providing strategic leadership in design review, policy and practice.
- Highly developed critical and analytical skills in relation to major and diverse projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to advocate for good design within the framework of government policies.
- Ability to negotiate effectively in difficult and demanding circumstances.
Both roles require a Master of Architecture and/or eligibility for registration as an Architect with the Architects Board of Western Australia.
