The Department of Education is seeking applications from people interested in opportunities supporting students and teachers in classrooms across Western Australian public schools.
Education Assistants play an important role in supporting teachers, students and school communities by assisting with learning programs, student wellbeing and inclusive education practices.
This Employment Register may be used to fill permanent, fixed term and temporary Education Assistant vacancies in metropolitan, regional and remote schools.
Opportunities may include:
- Education Assistant - Mainstream Level 1/2
- Education Assistant - Special Needs Level 2/3 and Level 3
- Education Assistant - Auslan
- Education Assistant - Braille
- Education Assistant - Lead
- Education Assistant - SPER
- Education Assistant - Defence Force Transition Aide
- Education Assistant - English as an Additional Language/Dialect
Appointments may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

Who can apply

- have experience working in education, disability support, youth work or community services
- are interested in opportunities across metropolitan, regional or remote schools.
Some roles may require:
- a Certificate III or IV in Education Support
- experience supporting students with disability or additional learning needs
- specialised skills or experience relevant to the school or student cohort.
How the Employment Register works
You may be contacted by principals or hiring managers regarding opportunities that align with your experience and location preferences.
If contacted, you will be asked to confirm whether you are genuinely interested in being considered for the opportunity before any further assessment occurs.
Hiring managers may assess interested applicants against the requirements of the role and determine the most suitable applicant through a merit-based process.
Applicants who are considered but not selected will be advised of the outcome and may request feedback. Review and breach claim processes apply in accordance with the relevant recruitment and selection requirements.

Eligibility to work
If you receive an appointment from this Employment Register, you will be required to:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start employment
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- Complete any induction or training requirements relevant to the role
