About the role
There are many reasons to choose to work with Health Services in the primary care setting including flexible hours, autonomy in decision making, broad scope of practice, nurse-led clinics, and the ability to up-skill and fast-track your nursing career.
Working in prison primary health care delivery provides nurses the opportunity to work with diverse patient groups using varied skills sets. Every day is different. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing clinical leadership, critical thinking and direct care to patients throughout the patient journey in a custodial setting.
You will manage the delivery of nursing care using well developed skills to manage patients with routine, urgent and chronic disease health conditions; health promotion and education; preventative health and immunisation; emergency response and medication management.
About you
The successful applicant must:
- Demonstrate skills and experience in a senior level clinical nursing practice.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, hold Australian permanent residency or have a valid working visa for Australia.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.
Successful applicants must have a current registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

- Contact details of two (2) recent work referees, with one (1) of them being your current Line Manager where possible.
- A statement of no more than three (3) pages addressing the following four (4) Role Specific Criteria below as listed on the JDF. Please provide examples to support your claims.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and experience in the delivery of evidence-based nursing care relevant to primary care practice setting.
- Demonstrated high level communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and conduct patient/staff education.
- Demonstrates incorporation of quality and risk management within practice.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies, within the West Kimberley region for the duration of the pool.
