About the Position

The Pre-Arbitration Conference Officer is responsible for resolving Arbitration disputes by agreement between the parties to a workers compensation dispute through the Workers’ Compensation Arbitration Service at WorkCover WA.

To undertake these duties, the occupant will need to understand human behaviour and find solutions to often complex disputes within the legislative framework.

As a public-facing officer of WorkCover WA, you will be required to undertake a broad scope of duties, including:

  • Case management of workers compensation disputes to facilitate the resolution of those disputes.
  • Convening pre-arbitration conferences and holding discussions with the parties to a workers compensation dispute for the purposes of resolving the disputes by agreement if possible, or otherwise to define and narrow the issues in dispute assist the parties to prepare for

To be successful in this position prospective applicants should possess:

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • An understanding of effective contemporary case management in a dispute resolution setting.
  • Demonstrated high level legislative analysis and evaluation skills and the ability to develop and implement practical and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • The ability to manage and progress a workload within strict timelines.
