The Opportunity
The Department is currently hiring for a Senior Release of Information Officer (L4) and Release of Information Officer (L3) pool. Both of these roles are responsible for assisting in the implementation and administration of release of information in accordance with relevant legislation, including the State Records Act 2000, Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation, National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Act 2018 and the Children and Community Services Act 2004
As a Level 3 Release of Information Officer you will also undertake a range of information management activities to service clients’ needs and meet Departmental objectives, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines.
As a Level 4 Senior Release of Information Officer you will work on a range of information management activities to service client’s needs and meet Departmental objectives, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines. You will be comfortable providing advice and liasing with Senior Officers within the Department and other Government Agencies on the release of documents. You will also ensure quality service is provided to all internal and external customers. In the role you will utilise your analytical, research and problem-solving skills as you undertake preliminary planning while locating, researching and evaluating requested documents for release of information. You may also be responsible for the coordination of summons and subpoenas and other orders, including vetting and preparing files for forwarding to the Courts.
Both roles may involve reviewing records that are extremely sensitive and confronting in nature.
