The Role
The General Manager, TAFE International WA (TIWA) provides strategic and operational leadership for Western Australia’s public international education portfolio. The role is responsible for the marketing, recruitment, admission and lifecycle management of international students enrolling in WA TAFE colleges and public schools, ensuring compliance with all relevant Commonwealth and State regulatory frameworks.
The position leads cross‑agency initiatives and complex partnerships to advance State Government priorities for international education, skills development, workforce attraction and economic diversification.
As a member of the Service Delivery Executive Management Team, the General Manager TIWA contributes to whole‑of‑division strategic and operational leadership, influencing policy, programs, investment decisions and performance outcomes to meet current and emerging service delivery needs.
The role also leads the development, implementation and monitoring of TIWA’s strategic and operational plans, budgets and quality systems, and is accountable for the effective management of human, physical and financial resources within a commercially funded business model.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Senior executive experience leading complex, customer‑focused operations, preferably within international education, training, tertiary education or similarly regulated environments;
- Strong commercial and strategic capability, including oversight of revenue‑generating services, financial sustainability and enterprise risk management;
- A proven ability to establish and maintain high‑value partnerships across government, industry, education providers and international stakeholders;
- Experience leading organisational improvement, quality assurance and change in complex operating and regulatory contexts;
- Highly developed people leadership capability, with a track record of building high‑performing, inclusive teams and developing leadership capacity; and
- Sound judgement, influence and communication skills, with the ability to represent the organisation credibly at senior national and international forums.
