Banksia Hill Detention Centre and Unit 18 Juvenile Correctional Facility (located at Casuarina Prison) have six newly established Clinical Nurse positions available for permanent, full-time appointment.
This exciting and rewarding role within Corrective Services involves delivering culturally safe primary care and emergency response to young people in custody. You will be supported by an experienced team and work a varied roster of twelve-hour day shifts, night shifts, and weekends.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in emergency, paediatric, GP clinic, Aboriginal health, or remote/community nursing.
- Immunisation competency.
- Previous experience in a prison or detention centre setting (highly desirable but not essential).
Eligibility
Qualifications – A current AHPRA Registration as Registered Nurse.
Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
WWC positions – In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position

- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and experience in the delivery of evidence based nursing care relevant to the primary care practice setting.
- Demonstrated high level communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated incorporation of quality and risk management within practice.

Open Pool Recruitment
This is an open-ended pool recruitment process which means there is no closing date for applications. We assess candidates on an on-going basis for suitable applicants to be selected to the pool as vacancies arise.
When selected to the pool, this selection will be valid for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.
