JOB DESCRIPTION: 

This role will provide support for key interpretation and collections projects and undertake documentation and digitisation of moveable heritage collections using Vernon CMS.

Duties and Key Reponsibilties:

1. Provide support for key interpretation and collections projects;
2. Assist with collections management, including accessioning artefacts, object photography and updating records in Vernon CMS;
3. Undertake image management and action image and multimedia copyright and permissions for projects;
4. Draft social media and other communications relating to interpretation and collections projects;
5. Liaise with volunteers and other staff relating to interpretation and collections projects;
6. Prepare reports and other correspondence as required; and
7. Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.


SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Essential:

1. Relevant experience in working with moveable heritage collections, including an understanding of conservation, exhibition, security and handling requirements;
2. Familiarity with museum collections management systems (ideally Vernon CMS);
3. Demonstrated skills in the use of MS suite of software, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
4. Sound communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to engage with volunteers, community groups and individuals;
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both in a team and independently, with sound management skills;
6. National Police Clearance; and
7. Current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
Desirable:

1. Tertiary qualifications in museum studies, cultural heritage studies, history or related disciplines;
2. Experience in the use of Vernon CMS;
3. Demonstrated understanding of the unique requirements of heritage places and collections; and
4. Experience in the use of financial management systems.


FOR FURTHER JOB RELATED INFORMATION: 

This is a fixed-term contract to 30 June 2026.

There will be a three month probationary period.

Applicants found suitable, but not recommended for this position, may be considered for subsequent vacancies at the National Trust for a period of twelve months.
