About the role
At the Public Transport Authority (PTA), we are committed to creating a greener, more accessible future for our public transport system. We are on the hunt for a visionary Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our Rail Planning Branch to lead our strategic initiatives.
You will be at the forefront identifying opportunities to reduce our impact on the environment and to maximise sustainability in the delivery of public transport services. You think beyond conventional solutions and are not afraid to challenge the status quo to develop innovative, practical, and sustainable public transport solutions for tomorrow. You will guide and inspire a talented team, develop and implement cutting-edge sustainability strategies, and ensure that our public transport solutions are both innovative and practical.
As the Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will play a key role in advancing PTA’s sustainability objectives and driving profound change through effective communication and strategic influence. You will be responsible for implementing our Sustainability Policy and providing professional sustainability advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders to embed sustainability considerations throughout planning, delivery, maintenance, and operations.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in one or more of the following: environment, sustainability, engineering, urban or transport planning, or a relevant equivalent and/or extensive relevant experience.
- Considerable experience and knowledge relevant to sustainability development and management (with focus on one or more of environmental, social and/or economic aspects).
- Considerable demonstrated experience leading and managing teams, including the capacity to lead, mentor and coach others, as well as manage resources.

There is one permanent opportunity available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
