The work area

These roles sit within the Performance and Evaluation Group 2 Directorate which is part of the Strategic Policy and Evaluation business unit and oversees and provides advice to Government on Department of Communities, Keystart and Aboriginal Affairs portfolios. The directorate encompasses two teams:

  • the Social Services Team: The Social Services Team undertakes analysis and provides advice with a view to influence Government decision-making relating to policy and investments across the spectrum of social and community services (child protection, family support, disability services, homelessness, community services, and prevention of family and domestic violence) and support for social and affordable housing; and
  • The Aboriginal Affairs Coordination Unit (AACU): The AACU was established to elevate and consolidate advice to the Government on Aboriginal policy outcomes and priorities. The unit plays a key role in ensuring that the Treasury executive maintains a department wide view of issues that impact Aboriginal people and communities, including implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and resolution of Native Title compensation.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about improving Aboriginal outcomes, or influencing value-for-money investments to enhance social policy outcomes? We are looking for several motivated and enthusiastic people to join us and make a difference for Western Australia.

In the Level 5 ($96,307 - $105,254) Analyst role within the AACU, you will:

  • Contribute to the research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and preparation of evidence-based advice on business cases and investment proposals to enable informed Government decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy options and to implement processes and reform for key Aboriginal Affairs issues.
  • Support data collection and analysis to inform the budget reporting on Aboriginal Affairs expenditure and the production of the Aboriginal Expenditure Review.

In the Level 6 ($110,309 - $121,569) or Level 7 ($128,077 - $136,891) Senior/Principal Analyst roles within the Social Services Team, you will:

  • Analyse, interpret information and shape advice relating to investment proposals, proposed changes to policy or legislation and service and financial performance, to facilitate informed Government decision-making.
  • Clarify and solve problems through working with partner agencies, including identifying and considering alternative and pragmatic options.
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment to meet team deliverables, deliver on whole-of-Government reporting processes such as the State budget, and support Senior Executive to meet Treasury’s goals.
