JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The National Trust's management team is looking for a motivated person with a keen interest in built heritage. The successful applicant will assist the National Trust's conservation architects and property management team in managing the proactive and reactive needs of the diverse collection of assets in the National Trust's portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assists with conservation and project management services to enable successful completion of capital works and maintenance projects for the National Trust;
2. Assist with procurement and management of planned and unplanned maintenance contracts for properties and ensures compliance with National Trust procurement and record keeping policies;
3. Assists with proactive property management tasks including asbestos management, security, hazardous materials and workplace health and safety compliance;
4. Assists with lessee requests for major and minor works in association with the conservation projects team to ensure compliance with heritage legislation;
5. Applies risk management , equal opportunity, workplace health and safety, and ethical principles and practices in all aspects of this role; and
6. Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.


SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Essential:

1. Experience working in the built environment in either a professional or trade capacity;
2. Demonstrated interest in built heritage conservation;
3. Demonstrated organisational skills, ability to manage conflicting priorities and work with deadlines;
4. Ability to review and resolve system issues;
5. Highly developed communication skills and ability to collaboratively work within a small team;
6. Highly developed computer literacy, including MS Office Suite of software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
7. Willingness to undertake occasional intrastate travel and include flexible work hours for events and workshops;
8. "C" Class Driver's licence; and
9. National Police Clearance.

Desirable:

1. Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting software;
2. Experience with WHS requirements including asbestos management;
3. Experience with project management and the use of related software such as MS Project;
4. Experience with heritage property management; and
5. Trade or vocational qualifications (Certificate level) or tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

GOSAC Award Level 3 ($72,896 - $78,717)

Following an initial twelve month fixed-term contract, with a six month probationary period, subject to satisfactory performance and financial viability, a longer term extension may be offered. Permanency in the future will be subject to Clause 11 of the Premier's Circular 2018/02.

Applicants found suitable, but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent vacancies at the National Trust for a period of twelve months, in accordance with Part 5 (General Appointment) of the Commissioner's Instruction No. 2: Filling a Public Vacancy.
