Applied research undertaken by the Animal Science Program seeks to understand the factors and processes that are critical for the conservation of Western Australia's rich and unique native fauna.
Similar appointments may be made from this process in locations throughout Western Australia within a 12-month period to positions that may be permanent or contract, including contract appointments with the possibility of subsequent permanency.

Job Description
Designs and undertakes scientific research to inform the effective conservation management and recovery of threatened and priority fauna in Western Australia, provides expert scientific advice, and effectively translates results of research to inform conservation priorities for target species.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total.

Demonstrated experience of undertaking research on threatened fauna ecology to address conservation management questions.

Demonstrated knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis applied to informing the effective recovery of threatened fauna.

Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in a timely manner in national and international scientific journals.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team to build innovative programs around collaborative research.

Demonstrated ability to effectively translate research outputs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant discipline (ecology, conservation biology or a related discipline) or an approved equivalent qualification is essential to be considered for this position. A post-graduate degree in ecology is desirable.
