For this position, Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.

The State Library of Western Australia connects Western Australians with information and ideas; creating services and events that engage and inspire communities and celebrate their diversity.

Conditions

This is a full-time (1.0FTE), permanent vacancy.

The Library is subject to a 7 day rotating roster including weekends and evenings.

A current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than 6 months) and a Working With Children Clearance will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the Department and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.

Location

This position is located in the Perth Cultural Centre hub close to Yagan Square and the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.

Job Description

This is an identified position for a person of Aboriginal descent. The position coordinates the development and implementation of projects and services in the Indigenous cultural heritage and learning area, building positive relationships with Indigenous clients and community groups accessing the State Library’s services and collections.
