Position Profile and Role:

We are looking for highly experienced individuals to join our team in the role of Senior Speech Pathologist. As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will play a critical role in our organization by undertaking the following responsibilities:

• Clinical Services: You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing clinical services within your assigned clinical specialties, as designated by the Head of the Department of Speech Pathology. Your expertise will contribute to the effective delivery of speech pathology services.
• Advanced Practice: As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will provide advanced-level speech pathology management to your assigned caseload. Your specialized knowledge and skills will enable you to address complex clinical needs and contribute to the overall improvement of patient outcomes.
• Paediatric Speech Pathology: You will primarily focus on coordinating and providing advanced-level speech pathology management to paediatric patients who predominantly present with neurological, neurosurgical, and neurodevelopmental conditions. Your expertise in this area will be crucial in helping these patients improve their communication skills and overall quality of life.
• Clinical Supervision and Consultation: You will serve as a clinical supervisor, consultant, and educator for staff members and students. Your guidance and expertise will support their professional growth and development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality speech pathology services across the organization.

• In this role, you will be required to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, manage client caseloads effectively, and act as a consultant and educator in paediatric speech pathology. Can you provide an example of a situation where you demonstrated strong interpersonal skills while working with a multidisciplinary team to manage a client's case? How did you ensure effective collaboration, efficient caseload management, and effectively educate and consult with the team, including health professionals, students, and other stakeholders in the process?
• Provide specific examples of how you have demonstrated your commitment to professional development throughout your career? Additionally, please provide examples of how you have effectively provided professional supervision and support to speech pathology staff in their growth and development. Provide what steps you take to ensure reliability and punctuality in your day-to-day practice.

Within the application system, you will be asked to provide your preferred service you wish to apply for:

• Paediatric Feeding Disorder – inpatient and outpatient assessment and management of feeding and swallowing within feeding team or complex airway team.
• Complex Neurological impairment from birth to 16 years including acquired, genetic and degenerative conditions; requiring mealtime and alternative communication assessment and intervention across inpatient and outpatient developmental and rehabilitation streams. This has potential to incorporate community based model of care for rehabilitation.
• Speech Sound Disorders- within the cleft lip and palate and craniofacial services providing education, assessment, management and monitoring in outpatient setting, including patients requiring differential diagnosis for velopharyngeal insufficiency. Knowledge and skills in paediatric articulation and language is essential. Paediatric feeding skills and prior experience with velopharyngeal dysfunction is desirable.
