We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and engaging Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our friendly team.
John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is looking for an expert, passionate teacher with a commitment to excellence in learning and teaching. The successful applicant will ideally display the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum. Success working with very able students will be well regarded. Candidates with a strength and interest in teaching and coaching high quality football (soccer), within our Specialist Football Program are encouraged to apply, though this is not essential.
The successful applicant will ideally support the implementation of the college’s Business Plan, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence-based approach to learning and teaching. Adopting inclusive practices, differentiating the curriculum and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. The successful applicant should be committed to a role of developing curiosity, innovation, and imagination in every person through inspiring minds and learning for life.
JCCA is a leader in public education. Our commitment is to not only build capacity in students’ academic pursuits but to make each child the very best person they can be by celebrating achievements in all facets of education, using creativity to promote excellence and nurture wellbeing. The college is a Quality Teaching Strategy (QTS) Lead School and demonstrates, shares and leads effective classroom instruction across our system.
Our college caters for 1800 students from Years 7 to 12. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individuals and come with different learning needs. We offer learning experiences that motivate and extend students academically through our Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Arts Programs in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, as well as a school-based Academic Excellence Program. We are a Perth Glory Academy School and our Specialist Football Program is well renowned.
We use the Arts as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation. The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to communicate; all important attributes for any future pathway.
