About the Role

Main Roads is looking for capable individuals to work as part of a Perth based team undertaking timber, concrete and steel bridge maintenance around the State, but primarily in the Perth Metropolitan area. With over 2000 bridges within Western Australia, and representing an essential part of the road network, this is an opportunity to be part of a team undertaking hands on, challenging and rewarding work.

As part of your role as a Bridge Worker you’ll undertake the assigned bridge maintenance works across the Metropolitan Region. In collaboration with the Senior Bridge Worker, you’ll ensure works are compliant with technical directions, quality systems, safety standards, procedures and guidelines.

In this role, you’ll enjoy working as part of a team in the planning, controlling and organising the operations of Bridge Crew. Some of the routine bridge works you will complete include:

  • Preventative maintenance
  • Specific repairs
  • Refurbishment or replacement works

The work of a Bridge Worker involves the use of specialist tools and the need for specific skills. Main Roads will organise and fund the required training for the successful applicants to obtain the required qualifications to perform the role.

  • A minimum of 4 weeks annual leave, 10 public holidays, 3 additional public service holidays and 13 weeks long service leave after 7 years continuous service

Appointment to this role is also subject to:

  • Satisfactory completion of required medical examinations to verify physical fitness to perform the duties of the position
  • Willingness and able to complete the following within 6 months of appointment:
    • Western Australian ‘HR’ Class (Heavy Rigid) drivers’ licence
    • First Aid Certificate
    • Construction Safety Awareness (White Card)
    • Basic Worksite Traffic Management (MWTM) and Traffic Control (TC)
    • Work Safely at Heights training
    • Various Tickets to operate items of minor plant
    • Any other necessary training as requirement
