Position Profile and Role:
We are seeking an Aboriginal Mental Health Coordinator to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Team. This is a Fixed Term appointment, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
As an Aboriginal Mental Health Coordinator, you will work with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service management teams in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Aboriginal Mental Health Service. You will provide mentoring and support to Aboriginal mental health professionals and workers and will undertake stakeholder consultation and liaison. You will provide cultural leadership to the mental health service in consultation with the Child and Adolescent Health Service Director of Aboriginal Health.

About Directorate:
The Statewide Specialised Aboriginal Mental Health team helps care for Aboriginal young people aged 0 to 18 years old who have mental health issues. They work with the Mental Health care team of nurses, social workers and doctors on mental health treatment and planning for young Aboriginal people across Western Australia. We understand that spirit and culture is essential as part of helping young people and their family heal.
About us:
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. Children and families are referred to Mental Health by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, School or other community organisation. CAMHS provides recovery-focused programs, and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. We are in the community and in hospital. Families may receive services from one or more of these areas.
The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to be the leading service provider for paediatric healthcare in Western Australia, as the State’s only dedicated health service for infants, children and young people. CAHS comprises four service areas: Neonatology, Community Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).
With over 6500 employees, our services are delivered at PCH and King Edward Memorial Hospitals (KEMH), as well as across a network of more than 160 community clinics across the Perth metropolitan area.
This position is subject to a Western Australian Working With Children (WWC) Check. For further information please refer to the WWC website at: https://workingwithchildren.wa.gov.au.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
