The Role
The PTA currently has two (2) permanent Mechanical Rollingstock Technician roles available. These positions maintain an effective and reliable level of operating performance on the Diesel rollingstock. This is achieved by carrying out routine Maintenance and mechanical/electrical fault rectification on safety critical components and train systems. This work is completed In line with rail safety standards, OEM specifications and customer expectations.
To be considered suitable, you will have technical trades’ experience/qualifications in a mechanical trade. Experience in mechanical fault finding, maintenance and repair of either fixed or mobile plant, including hydraulic, pneumatic and 24v ELV systems is desirable.
Rollingstock experience in the maintenance and repair of safety critical components including wheel sets, axel boxes, brakes, suspension, doors, couplers, engines and transmissions and cooling group components is highly desirable but not essential. These positions will require the ability to work shifts including weekends, public holidays and nights, standby hours and attend callouts at short notice.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent and fixed term appointments will be made. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
