Interagency Graduate Program
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety have come together to create an award-winning interagency graduate program.
The Department has an internal and interagency graduate program that successful applicants will be considered for during this recruitment process.
About the Interagency Graduate Program
Our award-winning 18-month graduate program aims to build the skills, experience and networks required for a successful career in the public sector. A customised rotational plan exposes our graduates to a range of opportunities across the public sector. Initial employment is on a fixed basis with the provision for permanent appointment following successful completion of the program.

We are looking for the following graduate officers for our 2023 program.
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation are looking for graduates with a bachelor degree completed in 2021 or 2022 in the following (or similar) fields:
- Arts (Urban and Regional Planning), Law (Commercial or Business), Environmental Design (Landscape Architecture), Science, Engineering (Civil or Mining), Business or Commerce (Finanace or Marketing), Economics or an approved equivalent bachelor degree.
The graduates will carry out a range of functions during rotations through different divisions of the department, and possibly through other WA Government departments before returning to a position in the Resources and Project Facilitation group.
Resources and Project Facilitation Group
The Resources and Project Facilitation group leads and assists the development and expansion of the State's resources and industry sectors, strategic industrial land investment and major infrastructure projects.
Project Facilitation
Project Facilitation supports the operation and expansion of resources and industrial projects, for which statutory agreements between the proponent and the State are in place, and also facilitates non-State Agreement projects.
Strategic Projects
Strategic Projects coordinates across government planning and approval processes and activities in support of strategically significant projects for the State. The Division is also responsible for specialist native title, heritage and environmental advice.
Infrastructure, Planning and Economic Development
The Infrastructure, Planning and Economic Development (IPED) division facilitates the strategic planning and development of land to attract and accommodate delivery of major projects, to ensure Western Australia's continued prosperity.
This involves working with proponents, communities, as well as state and local government agencies to balance the needs of industry and communities. Delivers other major economic development initiatives for Western Australia including Future Battery Industries, Renewable Hydrogen, LNG Taskforce and Australian Marine Complex.
Global Advanced Industries Hub
The Western Australian Government is committed to positioning the Western Trade Coast, Perth’s southern industrial precinct – including the Australian Marine Complex (AMC), Latitude 32, Kwinana Industrial Area and Rockingham Industry Zone –into a Global Advanced Industries Hub.
The GAIH team is responsible for working with other delivery partner government agencies and industry stakeholders to deliver an economic development framework for the Hub, building on existing strengths to grow the capability, competitiveness and participation of Western Australian businesses in the domestic and global supply chains of both established and emerging industries. The economic development framework will focus on land and infrastructure, skills and workforce development, and industry development and attraction
Hydrogen & New Industries
The Western Australian Government has a vision of becoming a significant producer, exporter and user of renewable hydrogen.
The Renewable Hydrogen Strategy Team is focused on the export and remote application of the Blending in Gas Network and Transport Solutions projects.
The graduates will carry out a range of functions during rotations through different divisions of the department, and possibly through other WA Government departments before returning to a position in the Resources and Project Facilitation Group.
