The Role
The PTA is committed to managing its operations in an environmentally sustainable manner and minimising adverse impacts on the environment and communities, whilst delivering an essential service to the community of Western Australia.
The Environmental Services Branch in the Infrastructure Planning and Land Services Division provides environmental and Aboriginal heritage advice to PTA’s business units enabling infrastructure planning and construction to proceed and supporting operations to comply with our environmental and Aboriginal heritage obligations and commitments.
We are looking for two environmental professionals; one to join the Environmental Planning & Approvals section and one to join the Project Delivery Support section of our environment team. In these roles you will be contributing to the planning of safe passenger transport services on rail, coach, buses and ferries, as well as the delivery of large infrastructure projects to expand our service network under METRONET.
To be successful as an Environmental Officer in our Environmental Planning and Approvals team you will have relevant environmental expertise, including:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines.
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and its application to environmental and Aboriginal heritage approvals.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing environmental and Aboriginal heritage consultants.
- Relevant, practical experience in environmental impact assessment and preparing environmental and Aboriginal heritage approvals.
- Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, groundwater management, revegetation, Aboriginal heritage, asbestos and noise and vibration.
To be successful as an Environment Advisor in our Project Delivery Support team you will have relevant environmental expertise, including:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines.
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and its application to the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing environmental and Aboriginal heritage consultants.
- Relevant, practical experience in environmental management as it relates to the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, groundwater management, revegetation, Aboriginal heritage, asbestos and noise and vibration.
There are currently two three (3) year fixed term opportunities available for filling both of which have the possibility of extension and or permanency.
Applicants assessed as suitable who are not appointed to the advertised roles will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent and fixed term appointments to other similar vacancies that arise may be made.
