The Community Safety Policy Directorate (Delivery and Policy Division)
The Delivery and Policy Division provides strategic leadership and coordination to ensure whole-of-government priorities are effectively delivered. It is structured under two key groups: Delivery Unit and Policy. Together, these functions enable DPC to provide independent, evidence-based advice and ensure alignment between government decision making and the delivery of the Government’s priorities.
The Community Safety Policy Directorate is responsible for developing and coordinating policies that ensure safety, security and wellbeing for all Western Australians. The team works across a diverse portfolio to support and protect the community and strengthen resilience. This includes providing advice in portfolios such as justice, police, state security, emergency management, child protection and family and domestic violence.
The Office of the General Counsel (The State Services Division)
The State Services Division delivers essential corporate and enabling functions throughout the Department, ensuring effective and responsible operations in accordance with public sector and legislative requirements, and supporting the achievement of Government priorities.
The Office of the General Counsel as part of the State Services Division provides expert legal, legislative and legal policy advice and strategic solutions to the Department and its portfolio Ministers on a wide range of complex issues to support the delivery of the Government’s objectives and the effective performance of the Department’s internal operations.
About the Roles
Senior Policy Officer - Delivery and Policy
There is currently One (1) Permanent and One (1) FTC Opportunity available for a period of 12- months both in the Community Safety Policy directorate.
The Senior Policy Officer provides policy support and advice in a dynamic environment. The Senior Policy Officer assists with research and analysis and contributes to delivery in relation to the development, implementation and review of the Government’s priorities from a cross-portfolio perspective.
Senior Policy Officer - Office of the General Counsel
There is currently One (1) FTC Opportunity for a period of 18 - months
This is a fixed-term position reporting to the Department’s General Counsel. The Senior Policy Officer will support the development of the Independent Oversight of Child Safe Organisations and Out-of-Home Care Providers Scheme and will provide policy advice and support including ensuring a whole-of-government approach is considered, engaging with stakeholders and escalating risks as identified. Experience in stakeholder engagement and/or child safety, with a policy focus, would be advantageous.
