Lead the operation of Western Australia’s most critical digital platforms.
This is a rare opportunity for an exceptional operational leader to drive the performance, coordination, and execution of Western Australia’s digital transformation agenda.

About the Role
As a Senior Director, you will ensure that whole-of-government strategy translates into consistent, high-quality delivery and that digital initiatives are well governed, coordinated, and deliver tangible outcomes for millions of Western Australians.
Through your leadership you will directly influence outcomes across government. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will:
- Drive operational excellence across key digital and cyber programs
- Lead whole-of-government coordination to remove barriers and accelerate delivery
- Establish strong governance, reporting, and performance frameworks
- Translate strategy into clear priorities, workplans and measurable outcomes
- Oversee delivery, risk and assuranceissues are identified and resolved early
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
Key responsibilities will include:
- Operational Leadership
- Lead delivery of reliable high‑performing digital services across whole‑of‑government platforms
- Embed best-practice operation frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
- Service Availability & Performance
- Ensure 24/7 availability of critical systems
- Oversee service monitoring, alerting, and proactive issue resolution
- Cyber Security & Risk
- Embed security-by-design and manage operational cyber risks
- Support incident response in partnership with security teams
- Incident & Crisis Management
- Lead response to major incidents and outages
- Provide clear executive-level communication during high-impact events
- Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage ICT vendors against SLAs and performance expectations
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement across supplier ecosystems
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure services meet regulatory, privacy and security obligations
- Provide assurance reporting to stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement
- Modernise operational practices, tooling, automation and observability
- Enhance service reliability, scalability and user experience
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a leader who combines exceptional operational management capability with outstanding communication and influence. Ideally you have:
- Understanding of public sector governance, policy, or cross-agency coordination
- Exposure to whole-of-enterprise or multi-organisation environments
- Experience operating cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Track record in modernising ICT operations (DevOps / SRE / automation)
This role is ideally suited to aspiring Chief Technology Officers (CTO) or Chief Operating Officers (COO) who thrive on bringing order to complexity, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring large-scale operations run seamlessly.

Eligibility
