Senior Assessment Officer
This position assesses allegations against public officers to determine whether minor misconduct may have occurred and recommends appropriate action to deal with them.
Pay: $105,167 - $114,938 pa, Level 5 PSCSAA
Location: West Perth
Hours: Full time
Duration: Permanent

We understand that to make change you must think differently and work differently…

The Public Sector Commission is on a mission to create an innovative and future fit public sector for all Western Australians.

This position is part of the Referrals, Notifications and Assessments team that responds to integrity matters across the government sector (including public sector agencies, local governments, public universities and government trading enterprises).

The team manages minor misconduct matters, addresses breach of standard claims and ensures compliance with relevant legislation so the work of the sector translates into exceptional public value and high community trust.

Our team now needs someone with high integrity standards, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience in interpreting and applying legislation.

You’ll assess complex and sensitive matters, manage the Commission’s anonymous reporting channel, engage with stakeholders, analyse intelligence, and apply legislation to recommend appropriate action. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, communicate clearly, and ensure decisions are well‑reasoned, well‑documented, and handled with the highest level of confidentiality.

You don’t need to be a minor misconduct guru to succeed in this role. What matters is a genuine interest in gathering and analysing information, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to identify and recommend appropriate courses of action. You’ll also bring confidence in engaging with stakeholders, using focused questions to clarify issues and extract relevant information.

We value diversity and understand diverse workplaces are more effective and innovative. So no matter your background, including people with disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, we encourage you to apply.

You can request flexible work and leave arrangements, and there are additional employment benefits to help you balance work and other commitments.

Applying is easy…

If this is just the role you’ve been waiting for, simply give us:

  • a CV of up to 3 pages that sets out your experiences and achievements in the context of this position
  • a covering letter of no more than 2 pages on how you meet the work related requirements
  • contact details for 2 work referees, one being your current manager.

The closing date for this position is 18 May 2026 at 4 pm.

Select the ‘Apply for Job’ button at the top or bottom of this advertisement. Sorry – no emailed or late applications. Any problems submitting your application – get onto the helpdesk on 1300 733 056.
