About the department

CITS is a diverse agency that supports all Western Australians by giving them opportunities to reach their potential and live their very best lives. Staff in our department work across the portfolios of creative industries; sport and recreation; tourism and multicultural interests.  We’re also responsible for supporting major events and infrastructure projects throughout WA:

  • We support a sustainable arts and cultural sector that facilitates social and economic wellbeing by building capacity of the sector, the provision of funding and grants, progressing infrastructure projects, providing research, policy, information and support.
  • We help maintain a strong and diverse sport and recreation sector by removing barriers to participation, providing funding and support for the sector through grants, infrastructure and major capital projects.

About Office of Multicultural Interests

The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) works to achieve the full potential of multiculturalism in Western Australia. This requires strategies that encompass the whole community, including business and industry groups, government and non-government agencies, culturally diverse communities and the wider community. It works with these communities to support and promote equity and accessibility. 

About the role

Are you passionate about strengthening multicultural outcomes across Western Australia? Do you enjoy policy development, analysis and working collaboratively across government and the community sector? The Office of Multicultural Interests is seeking a motivated and capable Strategy and Planning Officer to support the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs that advance multicultural interests.

We have one permanent, full time (75hrs p/f) position available. Part‑time and job‑share arrangements may be considered for the right candidate(s).

In this role you will contribute to evidence‑based policy and program development that supports equity, access and inclusion for culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Western Australia. You will work closely with colleagues across the department and with a wide range of stakeholders, including other government agencies, community organisations and the not‑for‑profit sector, to support whole‑of‑government multicultural outcomes.

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and community issues impacting the multicultural portfolio.
  • Experience with working effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse communities or organisations.
  • The skills to undertake research, analyse issues and contribute to the development and implementation of policies, strategies and programs aligned to organisational objectives.
  • The ability to coordinate and manage projects or activities under direction, working to agreed priorities, resources and timeframes.
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, briefings and correspondence, and liaising effectively with a range of stakeholders.
