About the role
This is an opportunity for a solicitor with a keen interest in and/or family law experience to join the Goldfields Office of Legal Aid WA. The Legal Aid WA Goldfields team is based in Kalgoorlie. Our lawyers travel on circuits to communities remote as Warakurna/Blackstone. We also travel regularly to Esperance, Leonora, Laverton and Warburton.
Responsibilities may include managing a file load which may consist of various legal matters for parties including family law, child protection, family violence restraining order or providing duty lawyer, legal advice or legal task assistance for clients with complex needs. Negotiations, advice and court appearances in the Family Court of WA, the Children’s Court of WA and the Magistrates Court of WA are part of these roles.
The role may also allow the successful candidate to undertake some criminal law work if the successful candidate has an interest in criminal law.
About you
The ideal candidate would have post admission experience (preferably in family law, but not essential), an interest in working in a regional area and be a natural team player.
If applying from outside the Goldfields Region, you must be prepared to relocate to Kalgoorlie.
