About Child Protection Specialised Clinical Services
Child Protection Specialised Clinical Services operates a unique, statewide child protection psychology consultation and treatment service that specialises in developmental trauma. The service has oversight of the clinical needs of infants, children, and young people living in out-of-home care. The service promotes trauma-informed understanding of children in care and supports therapeutic relationships and care across the systems impacting on a child’s developmental recovery from the effects of abuse and neglect.

The Role
As a member of the Specialised Clinical Services leadership team, the Managing Psychologist contributes to leadership within the service as well as local Child Protection area leadership, and is responsible for:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policy and practice frameworks.
  • Managing psychology staff and teams, including task allocation and workload distribution.
  • Providing sound clinical governance in relation to individual and team clinical practice, including recruitment, quality assurance, performance monitoring, professional development, and risk mitigation.
  • Overseeing and guiding the provision of trauma informed and culturally responsive clinical services.
  • Providing senior clinical expertise for complex cases.

Qualification Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a completed Master of Psychology degree in Clinical or Counselling or Forensic Psychology and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with endorsement in a specialist area of practice. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency, and evidence provided when applying.

The Opportunity
There is currently one permanent, part time opportunity (45 hours per fortnight) opportunity available.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for future permanent and temporary (part time and full time) vacancies that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
