The Corporate Services team includes human resources, procurement, payroll, business operations and digital and technology services. It helps the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport to reach its mission to enable dynamic and inclusive communities and support the WA economy through effective regulation and the facilitation of outstanding sporting and cultural experiences and opportunities.

About the role

Are you passionate about creating safe, healthy and thriving workplaces? We are seeking an experienced and proactive Work Health and Safety (WHS) Business Partner to provide specialist leadership, guidance and support across the organisation.

This role is integral to strengthening our safety culture, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, and driving continuous improvement in safety and wellbeing outcomes. As the WHS Business Partner, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our Safety Management System, partnering with leaders and workers, and supporting organisational capability in safety, wellbeing, and injury management.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the organisation’s WHS Management System, including policies, procedures, guidance materials and safety tools.
  • Provide specialist WHS advice to managers and workers, supporting hazard identification, risk management, workers’ compensation, injury management and return‑to‑work processes.
  • Coordinate and contribute to investigations of serious, complex and notifiable incidents, including root cause analysis, corrective action planning and regulatory engagement.
  • Monitor WHS performance trends and emerging risks, preparing high‑quality reports, insights and recommendations for senior management and governance committees.

Successful candidate must possess:

  • Highly effective communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence, coach and support leaders and workers at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to identify trends, provide insights and support evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • A collaborative and solutions‑focused approach, with the capability to work across multiple stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to undertake travel to metropolitan and regional areas for business needs.

We have one permanent, full time (75hrs p/f) position available (part-time hours considered upon request).
