THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is offered as a twelve (12) month contract/secondment opportunity with the possibility of extension.

The Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force) has a requirement for a Project Manager to work on the Emergency Services Radio Network (ESRN) which is one of Interagency Collaboration Program (ICP) projects.

The ICP includes the WA Police Force, Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), Department of Justice (DoJ) and Department of Health. Agency membership will increase or decrease depending on work requirements.

The ICP is responsible for delivering emergency services strategies in line with Government strategic objectives, emergency services principles and contemporary management practices and technologies. The activities of this group will include but is not limited to:

  • The Interagency Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Business Case Project;
  • The Emergency Services Radio Network Tranche 1 (ESRN) project; and
  • The Emergency Services Radio Network Risk Mitigation – Radio Core Refresh project

The scope of Radio Core Refresh is to address the significantly increasing risk profile of the ageing legacy Radio Core and 21 Trunked Repeater sites utilised by WA Police Force, DFES and DoJ.

Radio Core Refresh Project includes:

  • the replacement of 2 ageing radio cores utilised by WA Police Force, DFES and DoJ with new and fully supported radio cores, and associated equipment;
  • the upgrade of radio repeaters and associated equipment at 21 Trunked radio sites with new, fully supported repeaters;
  • address network congestion issues at high radio traffic hot spots; and
  • investigate and initiate the ACMA Homologated Radiofrequency Spectrum licensing.

THE ROLE

This position will be managing the WA Police Radio Core Refresh activities that include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Logistics Coordinator regarding ordering, delivery of radio core and repeater equipment, asset management of radio equipment;
  • Managing the installation and testing of radio core and repeater equipment;
  • Managing the Radio Communication Technicians working on the radio core and repeater upgrade activities;
  • Management of resources, Project Planning, Project and Program Board Reporting;
  • Managing and coordination of contracted resources to ensure delivery of quality standards;
  • Coordinating radio core and repeater activities, including outages in metropolitan and regional districts, including liaison with the State Operations Command Centre (SOCC), Radio Electronic Services (RES) and Department of Justice;

There may be a need to assist the ESRN Tranche 1 PM with related activities.
