Principal Sustainability Project Officer/Manager Sustainability Policy and Strategy (Pool)

Drive Change with Climate Action and Sustainability

The Transport Sustainability and Strategic Projects Office (TPSSP) leads sustainability policy and strategy across the Transport Portfolio and the wider transport system. We focus on ESG and climate change outcomes by leading strategic projects, harnessing innovation, fostering strong cross-Portfolio and sector collaboration; and coordinating research with university partners.

We also lead the Government’s climate action initiatives for transport - shaping emissions‑reduction strategies, guiding adaptation and risk planning, and coordinating decarbonisation in infrastructure programs.

The Opportunity

These positions will lead major sustainability and climate action initiatives that shape the long‑term direction for transport. They drive decarbonisation, influence policy at a strategic level, and deliver complex projects that support a more sustainable, resilient future for Western Australia.

Level 8: Manager Sustainability Policy and Strategy – Permanent position for immediate filling.

Level 7: Principal Sustainability Project Officer – 6 months fixed term with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

  • Cut through complexity to provide concise, actionable recommendations.

The leadership context of the Principal and Sustainability Project Officer is Personal Leadership.

You will:

  • Apply deep technical and analytical expertise to inform key decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with specialists, partners and external stakeholders.
  • Manage risk, anticipate issues and maintain strong governance.
