The South Coast Region extends 1,200 km from Denmark to the South Australian border and includes 14 national parks and 150 nature reserves covering 2.5 million hectares plus 7 million hectares of unallocated Crown land (UCL). National parks include Torndirrup, Porongurup, Stirling Range, Fitzgerald River, West Cape Howe, Gull Rock, Waychinicup, Stokes, Cape Le Grand, and Cape Arid.
The South Coast Region’s key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services and fire management.
We currently have an opportunity for a Ranger (Marine) (50d) to join our team.
Under the immediate direction of the Senior Ranger (Marine), this position carries out field operations in the Mamang Maambakoort Marine Park, including:
- Coastal patrols, marine monitoring and site inspections.
- Cultural heritage monitoring in partnership with Elders and Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation.
- Pest and weed control, revegetation and habitat restoration.
- Maintenance of park infrastructure and equipment.

- Experience in (Grade 2) or willingness to learn (Grade 1) land, sea and coastal management (including patrols, revegetation, pest management and cultural site monitoring).
- Ability to work effectively in a team, take direction, and work independently in remote environments.
- Good people skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Coxswain Grade 1 (Near Coastal) qualification (Grade 2) or willingness to obtain with training (Grade 1).
- Current motor vehicle licence (C Class minimum).
- Willing and able to acquire Certificate III (Grade 2) or Certificate II (Grade 1) in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or have equivalent field experience.
- Physically fit with the ability and willingness to participate in bushfire suppression and prescribed burning.
- First Aid certificate or willing to acquire.
- Commitment to workplace safety, equity and diversity.
- (Desirable) SCUBA diving certification (Grade 2) or ability and willingness to obtain (Grade 1).
