We have two Manager roles—one in the Aquatic Resource Management Branch and another in the Aquaculture Branch—responsible for leading effective and efficient branch operations. In these positions, you’ll provide policy and legislative advice, guide the delivery of regulatory and project initiatives, and engage closely with stakeholders. Your leadership skills will direct and manage staff, accordingly and ensure that key programs and policies are delivered on time and to a high standard.
The Manager Aquatic Resource Management provides guidance in the development and review of strategic-level policies and strategies to support the effective management of fisheries and aquatic resources.
The role delivers high-level policy advice to senior management and contributes to long-term resource sustainability and sector performance. With strong leadership, you will direct and manage staff to ensure key programs and policies are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
The Manager Aquaculture is responsible for ensuring compliance and supporting the sustainable commercial development of aquaculture in Western Australia, with a focus on maximising economic and social benefits for the community and the State.
The role coordinates and provides strategic advice to the Aquaculture Executive Committee and other departmental aquaculture management committees. It delivers high-level leadership and representation at both State and national levels in aquaculture management. The position also serves as the primary point of contact between the Department and industry on aquaculture management matters, within the aquaculture industry.

We are seeking motivated individuals with:
- A Tertiary qualification in Management, Science, Economics, Public Administration or other relevant area or, equivalent relevant extensive experience.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in fisheries and / or aquaculture management.
- Experience in policy development skills.
- Ability to effectively engage, liaise and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication and consultation skills.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
