About the opportunity:

Main Roads is currently seeking an experienced professional with in depth expertise in the analysis and evaluation of major transport infrastructure projects.

As a key contributor to our Investment Planning and Programming function, you will lead a small, specialised team responsible for economic analysis and the development of business cases for significant road and bridge initiatives across one of the largest and most geographically dispersed road networks in the world. Where required, you will also apply your expertise to support the evaluation of multi-modal transport projects in collaboration with our Transport Portfolio partners.

Drawing on your academic and professional background in engineering, economics, or commerce, you will possess a sound understanding of strategic, mesoscopic and microscopic transport modelling, along with proven experience in the economic appraisal of transport projects. Your knowledge of both State and Commonwealth frameworks for business case development will ensure the delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose submissions that support Government investment decisions and funding priorities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as you will engage closely with colleagues across Main Roads and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Transport Portfolio partners, and State and Australian Government agencies such as Infrastructure WA and Infrastructure Australia. You will also oversee work undertaken by consultants, ensuring technical outputs are robust, well understood, and critically evaluated.

What We Offer:

At Main Roads, you can have a challenging, flexible and rewarding career that takes you exactly where you want to go with an organisation who supports a healthy work-life balance to help with what is important to you.

In addition to rewarding work, and the security of a permanent position, some of the benefits of working with Main Roads include:

  • Competitive salaries, including 12% superannuation
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Attractive leave provisions
