Digital Public Sector Graduate Program

The future is digital – Be part of an award-winning graduate program!

About the Program.

The Office of Digital Government leads Western Australia’s digital transformation and proudly delivers the acclaimed whole-of-Government Digital Public Sector Graduate Program.

Driving innovation and impact, the program has joined forces with some of WA’s largest Government agencies to recruit top-tier STEM graduates and elevate digital capabilities across the sector.

Recognised in its inaugural year (2024) as a Top Graduate Employer (medium category) by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers, the newly created program earns this distinction through direct graduate feedback, affirming its bold and effective approach to recruitment and its immediate success in accelerating digital transformation. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be permanently appointed to an agency to continue your professional career.

The Opportunity

Through a dynamic 12-month multi-agency rotational structure, the program transforms WA’s digital landscape. Graduates will get the opportunity to apply their skills across a wide spectrum of agencies and specialised ICT streams, including Cyber Security, Data Science, ICT Operations, and the newly introduced Geospatial Information Systems in 2025. What’s better than one graduate program? Three in one!

Don’t take our word for it, hear for yourself:

How it works

You will get the opportunity to join dynamic teams of dedicated and talented digital professionals, who will mentor and support you to succeed in each rotation. The opportunities each year depend on business needs. Since 2024 a combined total of 49 graduates have kick started their career in the public sector and you can be next.

You will get

  • Networking opportunities for graduates to connect, make impact and shape friendships.
  • Permanent position at the conclusion of the program, subject to satisfactory performance.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for agile, innovative problem solvers who are ready to make a difference. You will share values aligned to the public sector, the ability to think big whilst communicating your ideas and not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. If you want to contribute to and make long-lasting impacts, then we want to hear from you!  Enthusiastic graduates who completed their bachelor’s degree in STEM or ICT related degree between 2023 and 2025 inclusive, are welcome to apply. Students must be an Australian citizen or have Permanent Residency at the time of applying.

The benefits

You will get exposure to and have influence on a broad range of policy, strategic and community, working together to make a difference:

  • 12% superannuation contribution
  • Flexible work arrangements, flex leave and working from home opportunities aligned to individual agencies
  • Three additional days of leave per year (public service holidays).

We give you the chance to show us who you are

Step 2: You will display how you think and problem solve by completing an online gamification challenge designed to test your critical thinking and creativity.

Step 3:  Lastly, you’ll be invited to our personalised Talent Hub Experience, where you'll have the chance to showcase your unique personality traits. Plus, you'll get to network with fellow graduates and connect with participating agency supervisors.
