The Data Unit is an interdisciplinary team tasked with improving how the public sector uses evidence to make better decisions and policy. We work with a broad range of agencies and tackle the State’s most complex social, health, environmental and economic issues. The work we do underpins better strategy, operations and service delivery in the WA public sector.

About the Role

This is an engaging and multifaceted opportunity to establish a new function, lead a team, work with a broad range of stakeholders, and implement new legislation that shapes how agencies collaborate and government decisions are made.

As part of this role, you will lead the implementation of the responsible information sharing provisions of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024.  This involves:

  • Preparing the sector for enactment: developing regulations and policy, setting up statutory committees and ensuring agency readiness.
  • Supporting the Chief Data Officer in delivering their statutory functions.
  • Leading the uplift of agencies to safely share data to deliver high impact interagency projects.
