Are you an experienced Control Systems Officer with experience in real-time control systems and railway signalling technology? Do you have the technical know-how and a desire to pass on your skills to others?
This is a great opportunity for a skilled Control Systems Officer to move into a Technical Trainer role, where you'll have the chance to share your practical knowledge and experience to help develop and mentor our Control Systems team.
As the Control Systems Trainer, you’ll make sure that employees have the practical skills, knowledge and technical competencies they need to keep the PTA’s control systems running safely and efficiently. Your key responsibilities include:
- Identifying the training needs for the Control Systems team.
- Delivering practical, on-the-job training on rail control systems and related technologies.
- Conducting assessments to check skills and competency.
- Developing and updating training materials that match current industry standards and best practices.
- Working with experts to ensure training stays up to date with new rail industry trends and technologies.
- Mentoring and supporting Control Systems Officer Trainees, giving feedback to help them improve.
You will also review and improve work practices, update procedures, and take on technical projects to help the team run more smoothly. We’ll also support you in gaining your Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, giving you the tools to teach and mentor effectively.
About You!
You have considerable experience as a Control Systems Officer in the rail industry, with a solid knowledge of real-time control systems and Railway Signalling Technology, and IT maintenance and configuration expertise. You will also have a Diploma in IT, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience. An understanding of rail safe work practices is a must.
You’re able to communicate clearly, work well with others, and build good working relationships in a team environment. You also have a strong desire to coach and mentor others. Strong problem-solving skills, good planning and organisation, and the ability to work independently are key. You’ll also need good numeracy and computer skills to get the job done
