Gascoyne Junction Remote Community School (GJRCS) offers teachers the opportunity to make a tangible difference to the learning and lives of students while becoming part of a small, connected community.
Located approximately 178 kilometres east of Carnarvon, GJRCS serves students from Gascoyne Junction, Woodgimia Community and, at times, surrounding pastoral stations. Our enrolment is small and can change across the year, creating a genuinely multi-age teaching environment where knowing each student well is essential.
Relationships are central to how we work. Staff build strong connections with students and families and are active participants in the wider community. Our School Council, Shire and local organisations are important partners in school life, and the 2024 Public School Review recognised the high levels of trust and community investment in our school.

The Role
Professionally, GJRCS provides scope to have real influence. Teachers use evidence, assessment and knowledge of individual learners to differentiate teaching and respond to student needs. Our improvement direction emphasises high expectations, student progress, wellbeing, attendance and strong relationships with families and community.
Working in a small team also means opportunities to contribute beyond your classroom. Staff are encouraged to take leadership roles, engage in professional learning, moderation and school improvement, with induction and instructional support recognised as strengths of the school.
This role will suit a teacher who is adaptable, relational, reflective and willing to contribute. Remote schooling requires flexibility, initiative and collaboration. Community involvement is part of the role, not separate from it. For the right person, that closeness creates an opportunity to see the impact of your work and to grow professionally while making a meaningful contribution to students, families and community.
