The Opportunity
Do you love problem-solving and working with diverse, complex data?
This is an exciting opportunity to use your analytical skills to inform decision making for the future of transport in Perth and Western Australia.
We seek a keen and motivated person with extensive experience in geographical information systems (GIS) to join the new Transport Analytics and GIS team in DoT’s Urban Mobility directorate. Urban Mobility provides integrated transport strategy, policy, planning and programs to optimise the current and future use of the transport network for moving people in cities and major centres.
As the Senior Transport Analyst, you will be responsible for capturing, maintaining and modelling geospatial data, carrying out analysis using appropriate methodologies and presenting results. You will collaborate with our subject matter experts and stakeholders to deliver spatial information products that give insights for our various active transport and strategic transport planning workstreams. Additionally, you will be responsible for offering sound professional advice, representing the Department on working groups, assisting with training to Departmental or junior staff, and in establishing and improving processes.

There is currently 1 x full time fixed term position available for immediate filling until January 2026, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies, in both our Urban Mobility and Maritime business units, (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.

- Provide an example of a significant data analysis or GIS project you have led (urban transport or maritime related examples will be well regarded). How did you manage the work so that it was completed on time and to a high technical standard to meet stakeholder needs?

At least one of the referees should be the applicant's immediate (most recent) supervisor/manager unless there are exceptional circumstances.
