About the role
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Rail Engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Perth’s suburban rail system, along with passenger rail systems beyond the metropolitan area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on innovation and has a passion for improving rail infrastructure.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of railway permanent way design and planning, contributing to major improvements that will enhance the region’s rail network. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing and updating permanent way design standards and codes of practice, ensuring full compliance with regulations, corporate policies, and Railway Safety Management standards. You will also be instrumental in maintaining requirements management plans and tools, ensuring engineering assurance standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
Your project management, contract management, and systems engineering expertise will be key as you work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building effective relationships and collaborating with teams across various disciplines.

About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Possession of Degree in Civil Engineering that is acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia.
- Sound understanding of permanent way design and experience in applying Australian design standards and codes in producing the permanent way designs.
- Relevant technical expertise, including relevant project management, contract management, systems engineering and engineering assurance experience.
- Well-developed coaching and mentoring skills and the ability to develop others.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available until 30 June 2028 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months
