We are looking for highly capable and values-driven neurologists with a sub-specialty interest and/or demonstrated clinical experience in managing patients living with epilepsy.
We have an immediate Full-Time vacancy for Permanent and / or Fixed Term appointment, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
What is our Consultant Physician Neurology (Epileptology) role?
The Neurology Department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of the largest in Western Australia and is an internationally recognised center for world-class patient care, speciality and subspeciality training and clinical research. The State-wide 24/7 Thrombectomy service for Stroke and the West Australian Adult Epilepsy Service is part of the Neurology Department which has close links with Neuro-intervention and Imaging service of WA and the State Neurosurgery Center which are both located at SCGH.
In this role, you will be joining a team of dynamic Neurologists with varied subspeciality expertise and will be part of the Neurology Ward service for inpatient’s, outpatient clinics and on-call commitments.
The specific focus of this role will be to provide diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with Epilepsy and other neurological disorders, consequently you will have:
- competency in all aspects of Clinical Neurology and acute Neurology
- subspeciality expertise in Epilepsy - competency in EEG is mandatory for this position.
- Fellowship in Epilepsy (including EEG/VEEG) is highly desirable.
The Department maintains close links with the University of Western Australia for teaching and the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science for subspeciality clinics and research.
The current consultant group combined have numerous active national research grants and are participants in international and national research collaborations, and our Department will also provide opportunities and help to progress research, education or leadership/administrative expertise for the successful applicants.

Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical services including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, geriatric medicine, general medicine, general surgery, and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
