Dental Health Services (DHS) is looking for seven (7) FTE Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists to work within the brand-new Early Childhood Dental Program for 0-4 year old children in Western Australia.

About Dental Health Services
DHS is part of the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) and is the largest public dental health services provider in WA, operating state-wide from a network of fixed and mobile clinics, funded by the WA Government. DHS provides the School Dental Service for children aged 5-16 years, General Dental Services to eligible adults with a current health care card or pension concession card, Subsidy Schemes and Special Dental Services.
DHS is progressing the operational roll-out and ongoing provision of the Early Childhood Dental Program (ECDP). The ECDP meets the election commitment made by the WA Government to provide free, community-based and universal child-friendly oral health care, to West Australian children aged 0-4. The goal is to improve the oral health experience for young children and their families throughout WA.
About this unique opportunity
Our Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists (ECDP) provide oral health promotion to the youngest members of our WA Community and their families within the ECDP. As part of the new program, Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists receive referrals from child health nurses and other networks to provide dental care to eligible ECDP patients.
This role will also involve:
- Implementing preventive programs in community groups.
- Screening and dental care for children where necessary, according to the policies and procedures of the DHS ECDP.
- Maintaining patient records and central management records in accordance with ECDP / DHS instructions.
- Referring patients requiring care beyond the scope of the ECDP via the appropriate referral pathway.
- Supervising and guiding Dental Clinic Assistants and student Dental Assistants.
- Engaging in continuing professional development/education and ensuring continuous eligibility for relevant dental practitioner registration.
- Participating in regular peer review and case review meetings
This role reports to the Regional Dental Therapist - ECDP.

- Applicants must be eligible for registration as an Oral Health Therapist or Dental Therapist by the Dental Board of Australia.
