The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) are the caretakers of Perth’s cemeteries, entrusted to commemorate the lives of Western Australians now and into the future. We respectfully help family and friends honour the lives of loved ones and safeguard memories for future generations.
This pool will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time positions as they arise for the next 12 months at our Karrakatta, Padbury (Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park) and Fremantle/Rockingham Cemeteries. We currently have one permanent full-time position available for an experienced Bookings Consultant at Karrakatta Cemetery.
About you
- Ability to work productively and flexibly in a team environment, resolve issues and maintain high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Sound organisational ability.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in managing client records and processing transactions using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or business system database.
- Understanding of how to apply legislation and/or policies, and procedures.
- (Desirable) Demonstrated knowledge of the funeral industry.
About the role
We are seeking a compassionate person who is passionate about customer service to provide a seamless and high quality service to clients in our beautiful cemeteries. This role is the key to communicating with funeral directors and managing the services that come to the cemetery as they happen, dealing with issues and challenges to ensure mourners, families and friends have compassionate experiences.
The Bookings Consultant is responsible for:
- Processing burial, cremation and chapel bookings and applications, exhumations, Single Funeral Permits.
- Ensuring all funeral applications and bookings comply with regulatory requirements
- Coordinating with funeral directors, burials team and/or crematoria team to ensure seamless planning and booking of funeral services by approving applications
- Processing work orders, invoicing and maintenance of records relating to bookings.
- Quality assurance of all transactions to ensure regulatory compliance and financial accountability.

Eligibility Requirements
- The recommended applicant will need to provide a National Police Clearance prior to appointment that is less than 6 months old from date of issue or obtain one prior to appointment. A criminal conviction may not preclude you from gaining employment.
- Australian permanent residency is a minimum requirement for permanent appointment to the West Australian Public Sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.
