About the role

Are you a natural leader with relevant experience in delivering high-risk, complex, and high-value infrastructure projects?

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a well-balanced Project Director to lead the METRONET Rollingstock project as it continues to deliver new Western Australian built trains as part of an expanded fleet to service the growing urban rail network in Perth. In this critical role, you will steer major infrastructure initiatives to meet State objectives, organizational goals, and stakeholder requirements, while providing expert technical advice and strategic direction in the acquisition, design, and maintenance of PTA’s Rollingstock.

As Project Director, you will lead Rollingstock project activities, including strategic planning, project evaluation, and infrastructure design, while developing policies and strategic business plans to ensure project success. You will manage all aspects of project and contract management, including risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement of project practices. Additionally, you will establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent the PTA on external committees, and manage the resources necessary to achieve PTA’s objectives, ensuring alignment with government policies and strategic plans.

About you!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles relevant to high-value Rollingstock projects, combined with strong project and contract management skills.
  • Senior management experience in a multi-disciplinary organization, with the ability to lead teams, manage resources, and provide strategic direction aligned with PTA’s vision and values.
  • Proven experience in planning, budgeting, and financial control of major infrastructure projects, ensuring the efficient and effective deployment of resources.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective change strategies, contribute to public policy development, and apply strong conceptual and analytical skills to drive strategic initiatives.
