In the Mechanical Engineering Branch, we provide rollingstock engineering support for the whole of the PTA. Our scope includes the State’s electric and diesel passenger rail fleets, acquisitions such as the brand-new C-Series electric fleet, and 3rd party rollingstock operating  in the PTA’s network.

The Role

The Rollingstock Assurance Officer assists in coordination and delivery of assurance, compliance, and engineering management processes for the PTA’s Mechanical Engineering branch. The role also assists in ongoing development of the branch’s documentation.

In this position you will administrate and report on various governance systems related to the branch’s scope (such as rollingstock registration), update documentation, undertake audits, and assist in monitoring and management of non-conformance findings.

This is a permanent appointment on a full-time basis of 37.5 hours or 40 hours per week.  The role requires possession of a current WA ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ class Driver’s Licence or equivalent.

About you

The successful candidate will have well-developed written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to negotiate required outcomes or resolve conflicts.

 To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Experience in the application of management systems, preferably in an area such as management of technical compliance, contract management or engineering governance.
  • Experience in the application of contemporary Quality Management Systems and processes.
  • Experience in rollingstock, rail infrastructure, or heavy mobile equipment engineering or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite Applications to a high standard.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to achieve agreed targets and timelines using effective teamwork, delegation, and coordination.

Initially this selection process will be used to fill the above vacancy, but it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that may arise in the agency within the next twelve (12) months on a permanent or fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
