The Department of Communities (Communities) is Western Australia’s major human services department; bringing together vital services that support children, young people, families and communities to grow and ultimately to thrive.
The Role
Education makes a vital contribution to the development and wellbeing of children. It also plays a significant role in a child’s ability to access future employment and life opportunities. Children in the care of the Department often have unique educational needs, and meeting those requires planning and support.
As an Education Officer, you will provide education services to children in care, as well as those identified by the Department. You will achieve this by:
- Developing and maintaining education programs and supports for children, schools, carers and/or families.
- Providing educational and social skill development to children, families and caregivers.
- Consulting and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to utilise your education experience in a child protection setting; expanding your skills and knowledge in a role that will make a real difference in a child’s life.
The attached Job Description Form (JDF) provides more information about the position. For further information we encourage you to contact Debbie Mussett, Team Leader Child Protection, on (08) 6277 3999 or at Debbie.Mussett@communities.wa.gov.au.
