The role
The Jobs and Skills Resource Unit (JSRU) provides resource development and centralised support to nineteen Jobs and Skills Centres (JSCs) across Western Australia.
The Project Officer JSRU is responsible for the development of culturally-relevant and high-quality career development resources to support the JSCs to provide career, training, and employment assistance for Aboriginal people (including the resources and content for the Aboriginal Services section of the Jobs and Skills WA (JSWA) website). The Officer will provide support and contribute to the implementation of the JSRU strategy for the provision of Aboriginal support services to the JSC network. The Officer will develop strong functioning relationships with key stakeholders within the Department and the JSCs, the Aboriginal community, external service providers and Aboriginal organisations, and use this network to inform the development and provision of resources and support. Finally, the Officer will work with the JSRU Manager to review, adapt, and update general purpose resources to be inclusive and meet Aboriginal job seekers and career changer needs.
To be successful for this role, you must be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who ideally:
- has strong organisational skills, good communication skills, proven stakeholder and customer management skills, and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- is a strong collaborator and can demonstrate the ability to seek and respond to feedback from key stakeholders to ensure the provision of services or resources to meet client expectations.
- has experience in the provision of client services in the employment, employability or career development sectors.
In addition, you will be in possession of or have substantial progress towards a minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Career Development or equivalent (or be willing to complete this qualification). Previous experience in the creation of new resources, educational programs, presentations and other communications or media would be highly regarded.
