The Role

The Transperth Train Operations (TTO) division is responsible for the operation and management of Perth's urban rail passenger service in accordance with an internal Service Level Agreement. This responsibility includes the operation, security, railcar maintenance, and management of the urban rail passenger system.

The TTO division is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Project Director – Metronet Rollingstock, who will be responsible for ensuring that high risk, complex and high value major infrastructure projects are delivered meeting State objectives, organisational and stakeholder requirements.

In particular, the key deliverable is ensuring that METRONET’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program successfully delivers 246 new C-series railcars to service new projects and replace ageing A-series trains. Additionally, six new diesel railcars will be delivered to replace the existing Australind service between Perth and Bunbury and the Bellevue Manufacturing Facility will be expanded to include maintenance and stabling facilities.

About you

We are seeking a natural leader who exhibits the individual characteristics and knowledge required for the role. The successful applicant should be confident in managing a high value major infrastructure project with the utmost of integrity and professionalism, by drawing on their strong leadership and management capabilities in ensuring that all internal and external stakeholder relationships are maintained and that the team within the METRONET Rollingstock Project branch are fully supported.

To be considered for the role, you will possess all the relevant skills and experience listed in the Job Description Form (JDF) including having extensive knowledge of relevant engineering or technical principles as well as having extensive knowledge and experience in managing such projects. Therefore, your skills and experience in the fields of leadership, management, strategy, policy, resource allocation and achievement of outcomes will be that of a level appropriate for such an important project to the Public Transport Authority, METRONET, and the State Government. 

There is currently one fixed term, full-time position available until 31 December 2029, with possible extension and/or permanency. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
