Albany Health Campus is a modern 130-bed hospital. The hospital is a regional resource centre for the 60,000 people lucky enough to live in Albany and the Great Southern Region.
The hospital medical services include an expanding general medicine department with four medical teams and an integrated HomeSafe program to bridge the gap between acute care in hospital and community. Other local specialist services include oncology and palliative care and a satellite dialysis unit. There is a geriatrician-led 15 bed subacute ward, Older Adult Mental Health service, regional ACAT, community allied health services and a geriatric medicine service compromising a Geriatrician, Geriatrics Advanced Trainee and Resident Medical Officer.
As part of the geriatric team, our Geriatricians co-manage the subacute ward, run geriatric clinics locally and remotely (including telehealth in the region) and offer inpatient consultation liaison. Geriatricians also integrate with the general medicine roster as part of an expanding acute geriatric service, therefore preference will be given to dual trained Geriatric and General Medicine Physicians. As part of our commitment to innovation you will participate in service design to meet the needs of our growing geriatric population.
Medical education and professional development at all stages are priorities for Albany Health Campus. You will be involved in education and supervision of trainees and will work with an experienced team of Physicians who are committed to quality rural generalist practice. The Rural Clinical School in Albany is a highly sought-after placement for WA students. Albany has an established history for training rural generalists and is becoming a hub for regional specialists.
Consultant Physician - Geriatrics Year 1-9 $375,863 - $473,828 p.a.
(Inclusive of base salary, 11% superannuation and applicable allowances)

About the Great Southern Region
The Great Southern region is one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The region covers an area of approximately 87,000 square kilometres and has a population of about 60,000 people. Famous for beautiful beaches, granite mountains and it is classified biodiversity hotspot! The coastline of this area is the massive contrast between pristine beaches with turquoise waters and the fearsome might of the Southern Ocean. Albany is increasingly recognised as the best place to observe the Southern Right Whale. The Stirling Ranges offer some the most breathtaking scenes in the state.
